The challenge...

The Institute of Sustainability & Food Innovation brought Reaseheath and the University of Chester together around a shared ambition: to explore more sustainable ways of producing food.

This was a new venture, with no established identity or previous model to follow. It needed to explain its purpose clearly, represent both partners and make specialist research accessible to audiences beyond academia.

What we did

We developed a distinctive identity and a clear way of communicating the institute’s ambitions, connecting sustainability, food innovation and practical research.

The visual language combined deep green and lime accents with photography of growing environments, people and science. Across booklets and digital communications, we brought the partnership’s story together, giving complex subjects a consistent, approachable presentation.

The aim was to give a new initiative a confident public presence and help people understand what it stood for.

The difference it made...

The partnership successfully launched a research initiative that had never been tried before at Reaseheath, leading to the college welcoming its first PhD student.

The identity and communications supported that launch by giving the institute a recognisable presence and a shared story. The milestone belonged to the academic partnership; our contribution was to help make its purpose visible, understandable and ready to communicate.

New ground for Reaseheath

For a college rooted in practical education, welcoming its first PhD student marked a significant step into doctoral research. IoSFI connected that practical experience with academic enquiry, creating a new opportunity to explore challenges facing food production and sustainability.

Their experience...

“We started with a limited brief and two organisations bringing different perspectives. Keith helped us find the common ground and turn an emerging idea into a clear, recognisable identity. He guided what could easily have become a complicated design-by-committee process, giving us something tangible that resonated with both partners and that we could confidently launch together.”
